Description:
This Daruma omamori originates from Takao-san Yakuōin (高尾山薬王院), a Shingon Buddhist temple known for ascetic mountain practice and the Hiwatari fire walking ritual. The embroidered text 合格 (Gōkaku) translates to “pass” or “successful result,” commonly associated with examinations, certifications, and decisive life goals.
The Daruma figure represents perseverance and refusal to yield in the face of difficulty, rooted in the legend of Bodhidharma. In omamori form, Daruma symbolism functions as a commitment device rather than a passive charm, reinforcing discipline, endurance, and follow-through.
The red Daruma imagery emphasizes vitality and determination, while the sealed construction preserves the internal prayer. As with all omamori, it is not meant to be opened, as doing so is believed to release its spiritual efficacy.
Daruma success omamori from Yakuōin are traditionally used by students, professionals, and practitioners pursuing high-pressure goals where consistency and mental resilience determine the outcome.
